Major Assignment at Work & Bree's blogging debut

Tues March 9
My assigment for today as a new staffer was to hold a table for our team to watch the big football match - Chelsea versus Barcelona. They assured me afterwards that it was one of the best matches I'll ever watch. Chelsea jumped out to a 3-0 lead, which was cut to 3-2 all before halftime. Because of the tiebreaker rules about away goals, Chelsea had to score a goal in the last 15 minutes to advance to the semifinal. This was apparently a brilliant win, as it validated the hundreds of millions that the Russian owner has plowed into what traditionally had not been a very successful team. One interesting cultural difference: they always list the home team on the top of the scoreboard, the opposite of the way it is in the states.

We both managed to breakaway from work early today! We stopped by the nail place for Bree to get hers removed, and still were eating dinner at the early hour of 7:45. Since most of our cooking involves a 30-minute wait in the oven, we did get all the dishes washed and the laundry run again.

March 1-7 By Bree
Quick recap of the latest highlights: Goat curry and 6 hours of church on Sunday, our trunks came on Tuesday (whoop for pillows and a hairdryer), Matt had alligator with his international team on Wednesday, we went to a pre-March Madness party hosted by the European equivalent of ESPN and taped a commercial for A&M on Thursday, and on Saturday we had real Mexican food (our first since Abeulos with Matt’s parents the day after our wedding!) and watched part of the Tech vs OU game but since it didn’t start until 11pm we didn’t watch much.

It was also my birthday this week – thanks for all the emails and calls, especially the one from my two dear cousins (who know who they are) that left a message that I couldn’t quite understand but I just know that it was them calling to say Happy Birthday. I also got hangars (the good kind!) from a very special lady. Matt sent me some beautiful red with yellow tips tulips to work.

Wow! It was good to catch up on your news!! I was in the Texas Panhandle all last week, without access to my computer, so had a lot to read. Now I don't have time to comment on much as (as usual)my day is quite full. You might try the "Texas Panhandle" on your new British acquaintances. If Texas itself is unknown, the Panhandle might be fun to explain. You might also tell them that "we" don't hunt the white (sign of peace)doves, but white wing and ? which are grey. By the way Sara has some exciting news, but I'll let her tell you about it. Hopefully you have her email address. Love ya, Maw Maw
P. S. When is Bree's birthday? I need to get her on my list.
