Using the Orange Bags
Today, a very strange thing happened. I woke up, very hungry, and went to get a bowl of cereal. I poured some mini-wheats, added some brown sugar and the last of the milk. Then I tossed the milk carton into the bin and poured some juice. "Oops I thought, I should have put that in the recycling sack." And then I did. My how things change. Have you recycled lately?
My previous memory of recycling is when my mum and I used to collect all the cans we could find and then drive over to Odessa, with me counting the dollars that we would make in my head. I think one time we got $18. At least mum didn't charge me for the petrol. (Actually my fam has always been very good about recycling the newspapers, using the dumpsters at Fannin Elementary).
Recycling helped me get rich about as quickly as my coupon scheme. I would cut-out coupons and then accompany my mum to the grocery store. At the end of the month, I would try to claim back the savings that my fam had achieved. My dad, seeing no actual savings in the monthly grocery bill, I think supposed that I had my mum buy things solely to use coupons! We cut a deal for half of the amount - again probably about $18 - and the coupon scheme was dead.
Now, though, orange sacks in hand, Bree & I have become part of the majority in Wandsworth (pop 265k) who have goals to recycle 25% of all waste by next year. It helps that they make it very easy!
Have a good weekend!

Sis and Husband:
You've inspired me again. From now until christmas I am going to refrain from discharging our trash bags into the dumpsters. I will store them in the barn so you guys can take them back to England and recycle. That should help push you over your 25% goal.
Tired of being the one always coming up with good ideas, I am,
Sincerely Yours.
To think...in all the time I have known Bree, I have never known how "funny" her brother is. Witty is probably the better word, but that still doesn't quite do him justice, so for now..."funny".
PS...LJ says "hi".
yeah i still have problems throwing away soda cans after my summer in oregon. it just feels....wrong
