Library Fines

I have a serious personality disorder:

I have my Dad's intense hatred for library fines and my Mom's propensity to end up getting them.

Which is why I found myself getting up at 6 am on Monday morning to go drop the books in the slot to avoid accumulating a week's worth of fines while both Bree & I are out of town.

It's rather embarassing as the library is only a 7 minute walk away, and they offer both online renewal and a renewal hotline. This time, the problem was we couldn't find our library cards and you have to have the number to renew - we wanted to read the books to badly to take them back.

It would help if they would just change the name... I hereby declare that I shall never have another library fine. But I may make a few involuntary donations for the good of literacy in Wandsworth Council.

For those of you who'd like an update on where we are and what we're doing:

M <---- This is me diligently working in Southampton, England.

B <----- This is Bree in Atlanta with a weekend of partying yet to come.

I would like to brag a little bit -in my 4.75 years of college education and continuing on to the present day - I have pitched a shutout with the library system (the educational equivalence to a rent-to-own furniture store). That's right over 9 years and no library fines.

Yours Truly,

OK, for the last time. Library Fines / Contributions are (similar to speeding tickets) absolutely and unequivocally a lack of discipline on the part of the offending party. My suggestion - don't read! Or if you must read - pay the fine or get the stinkin things back on time. AAARGH!!!!

love ya, dad (the fine payor but never the offending party)

Are you not is a big enough city to simply stop checking out books from the locations at which you have a fine?!

MJ - sister of the "libary fines are a lack of discipline" poster...now do you know why I am the way I am?! And, IT was bound to be watered down by the time it got to me!
